Run4Geelong

I've joined Run4Geelong 2024

I am super excited to be participating in my first 5km race at Run4Geelong 2024!

Having started trying to get good at running in February 2023, I have worked long and hard to get to where I am today and I'm looking forward to putting myself to the test. Even on the days where I don't perform as well, I reflect on how I started running at 30 seconds on/off intervals and appreciate how far I can run continuously today.

I've chosen to direct my fundraising to the Women and Children's services of Barwon Health in memory of Tayla Black and her 11-week-old daughter Murphy Margaret. Tayla was my colleague at WorkSafe when I first moved to Geelong in 2020 and tragically, she and Murphy passed away in a domestic violence incident on 8 August 2023.

I often think about Tayla when I'm running, and how fortunate I am to have the privilege to try new things and get better at things I've historically been bad at, when she won't ever have that opportunity again. I do my best to embrace that perspective, even when it's raining and my lungs are burning and my calves are tightening and my feet are blistering.

It would mean the absolute world to me to receive even the smallest of donations - perhaps the cost of your next coffee - towards my Run4Geelong and Barwon Health Foundation fundraising efforts. Thank you so much for your consideration, I hope to make you proud!
