Every morning, the chairs begin to fill.

One by one, local people take a seat at Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre - a seat they never imagined they would need, and one they hoped they would never have to sit. Some have only just heard the words, "you have cancer." Others have been on this journey for months, even years.

They settle in for what will likely be hours. Some read, some rest, some quietly hold the hand of someone they love. No one wants to be sitting in those chairs. But when they are, we want them held with comfort, dignity and care.

Help us fund 8 new treatment chairs

Every week, more than 200 local people spend hours in a Day Ward treatment chair at Barwon Health's Andrew Love Cancer Centre - receiving life-saving and life-extending medication. Purchased through donations almost a decade ago, eight of these chairs now urgently need replacing.

Your generous gift will help fund new treatment chairs that offer greater comfort, support and dignity, making an incredibly difficult day just a little easier for local patients.

Replacing eight treatment chairs in the Andrew Love Cancer Centre Day Ward that have supported thousands of local patients since being purchased through donations almost a decade ago.

Enhanced comfort for the many hours patients spend in treatment, while life-saving and life-extending medication is delivered.

A real story

Gill's story

"I spent my early career as one of the oncology nurses at Barwon Health's Andrew Love Cancer Centre. Never in my life did I expect I would walk back through those doors - this time as a patient.

Chemo was tough. I'd nursed patients through it myself, but nothing prepares you for it. I became a familiar face in the Day Ward. A frequent flyer, as I liked to call it.

What I'd love is for this amazing community to help the Day Ward get new chairs, to enhance patient comfort for those long hours spent sitting in them, receiving treatment."
