Enhance Patient Comfort and Care
With the support of our community, the Barwon Health Foundation is proud to invest in enhancing the level of comfort and care provided by Barwon Health. We do this by funding vital medical equipment, investing in compassionate care services and building better health facilities.
This year, more than $1 million will be spent purchasing and replacing life-saving and life-enhancing medical equipment, service improvements and patient comfort and care items.
In 2021, we hope to open a brand new, world-class, $3.6 million Paediatric Rehabilitation Centre, designed by kids, for kids—the first in Victoria.
Support Our Healthcare Workers
Health and emergency workers are remarkable, resilient and committed people. At Barwon Health, we are lucky to have the very best. They support our community through the highs and the lows, through celebrations and through grief and trauma. They too need our support.
The Barwon Health Foundation is driven to make sure we ‘care for the carers’, to support our health care heroes. We do this by hosting several staff wellbeing initiatives, recognition awards, wellness activities and simple things we can all take for granted, like… shouting a coffee or treat on those particularly tough and challenging days.
Advance Cutting-Edge Research
Barwon Health has some of the brightest minds, world-class researchers, conducting life-changing studies and clinical trials right here in Geelong.
From oncology, cardiology, mental health, infectious diseases, and paediatric research (just to list a few), Barwon Health's research is highly regarded across the globe. You could almost guarantee that there is research happening across all disciplines at Barwon Health at any given time.
In May 2020, we were thrilled to announce a life-changing gift from The Costa Family and The Anthony Costa Foundation. An iconic Geelong family known for their passion for our community, The Costa Family will support the establishment of Geelong’s first-ever, dedicated Clinical Trials Centre in honour of their late brother, Adrian Costa. Planning is now well underway to establish The Adrian Costa Clinical Trials Centre at Barwon Health.
Build a Healthier Future for Tomorrow
The Barwon Health Foundation supports the community’s health needs of today while also working to build a healthier future for tomorrow.
Our goal is quite simple. Once we have tended to the immediate needs of our community, we want to ensure that there is sufficient funding available – via a prosperous permanent endowment fund also known as a corpus – so our Foundation is able to respond to the future needs of Barwon Health.
The coronavirus pandemic was a perfect example of how vital a permanent endowment really is when the need arises for unplanned, urgent funding to support the health of our community. Some donors seek an immediate impact following their donation and some like to make a long-term legacy through a gift in their will, a donation to our corpus or via their own ‘named family fund’ managed by the Barwon Health Foundation.
Donating to build a healthier future for tomorrow is a way to care for your family, forever.
