Grant Spotlight

27 Aug 2021

STAFF on the Cotton On Children’s Ward are enjoying the spoils of a recent wellbeing grant that transformed their communal space.
In the past 18 months more than ever, Barwon Health staff have displayed great resilience in time of increased challenges.
In response, a Barwon Health Foundation grant round focused solely on supporting health wellness initiatives that had a positive impact on staff wellbeing.
Kellie Bennett of the Children’s Ward was granted $1000 for her application to create a calming environment in the staff room, complete with resources and tools to encourage mindfulness.
The zone is now a place for her department to de-stress and re-centre, as well as an area for night staff to wind down.
The project featured the installation of salt lamps, artificial plants, aromatherapy oils, diffuser, weighted blankets, and a wall canvas as well as a coat of green paint to enhance the tranquil mood.
Kellie said approximately 70 staff have benefited from the Barwon Health Foundation grant.
“Staff are really enjoying the change in environment and the relaxing ambience,” she said.
Submissions for grants under $2,500 are open all year round and applications forms are available on the Barwon Health Foundations One Point page.
The Foundation opens approximately two major grant rounds per financial year. Information regarding open dates and criteria will be communicated via directorate directors.
