Giving the gift of good health

30 Oct 2020

For the time being, at least, it looks like the threatening ‘COVID clouds’ hanging over us all have cleared and we can get back to our lives in some form of normality.

So many in our community would have gone through a whole range of emotions over the past 8 months or so, from fear to frustration, to relief and reflection.

We know Barwon Health, and the Barwon Health Foundation through the generosity of the community, played – and continues to play - such a crucial role in providing comfort that should the virus have struck ourselves or a loved one, we would be well looked after.

The reflection that many experienced involved considering their legacy. If we are to leave this earth how do we wish to be remembered and is there something that we can leave behind that will benefit future generations?

It is a thought process that so many have undertaken over the years – the result of which has immeasurably enhanced the patient comfort and care provided by our community’s health service. The whole community can be grateful for the generosity of so many wonderful community members over the past 170 odd years. Their memory lives on – on buildings, plaques, equipment, on our soon-to-be installed Legacy Tree and other locations.

They will never be forgotten and their generosity has, quite simply, saved lives .

So many people during our recent Legacy Month decided that leaving a gift in their will was a positive decision they could make towards future generations. What could be better than giving the gift of good health?
