After many years in corporate sales with the Geelong Football Club, I have recently taken on a corporate partnerships role with what I firmly believe to be Geelong’s most important charity, the Barwon Health Foundation. I am genuinely inspired by the opportunity to create greater corporate connections for a cause that provides vital support to the region’s most impor- tant public health service.
Barwon Health is the region’s biggest employer, with over 8,000 staff, and among the largest comprehensive regional health services in Australia. With a primary catchment extending to 500,000 people from Little River to the South Australian border, its extensive care spans 21 sites including University Hospital Geelong, Andrew Love Cancer Centre, Adrian Costa Clinical Trials Centre, the Swanson Centre for mental health, the McKellar Centre for rehabilitation, aged care and palliative care, plus many more.
These services care for the community right through life’s journey - from birth to our final days and every hurdle and joy in between. You can be guaranteed at some stage your family, your friends, your staff – perhaps even you - will need to access Barwon Health. Naturally, we want the very best!
We partner with businesses to provide life-saving or life-changing medical equipment, health facilities, or invest in research allowing new medicines and interventions to be available to patients through clinical trials. Put simply, we work to provide Geelong with the very best health care.
We are looking to engage with corporate partners who not only feel a social responsibility to ‘give back’ and support the community that supports them, but who understand the benefits such association can bring. Our gratitude to those who partner with us is regularly expressed in the form of promotion, branding and recognition opportunities, the chance to communicate with our healthcare leaders, plus visibility and hospitality options at some of Geelong’s biggest events - not to mention the added bonus of improving the health of your own staff through access to specialist health topics.
Enclosed are some details of our current Tax Appeal which seeks to fill the final $150,000 funding gap on the $3.6million Kids Rehabilitation Centre soon to be built at the McKellar Centre. The 100% community funded facility will support hundreds of kids each year including those with traumatic brain injuries, neurological illnesses, spinal injuries, brain tumours and other conditions such as cerebral palsy.
In exchange for your support of this project, there are recognition options including naming of rooms – and even bricks – which you might like to consider. We’ve also included a list of equipment we are still seeking to fund should you wish to purchase an item in your business name this tax time.
There are however so many other areas and projects within our organisation for which we are also seeking support including important services such as palliative care, mental health, cardiology, cancer and exciting clinical trials and medical research. In the lead up to tax time, I’d love to make a time to catch up and discuss these and other unique opportunities to collaborate on. It’s true that we are nothing without community and, as a business operating in our region, you are a most important part.
